What is a Preferred Provider?
A Samaritan Choice Preferred Provider is a provider that has an affiliation with or is employed by Samaritan Health Services. To maximize your benefits, you should select a provider who is listed as a preferred provider. For assistance in choosing a provider, call Samaritan Choice Member Services at (541) 768-5216 or toll Free 1-866-300-4100 to verify your provider.
Preferred Provider Benefit:
Patient receives care from a provider that has an affiliation with or is employed by SHS. Patient receives care from a provider that is contracted with SCP and has no affiliation or employment with SHS.
Non-Preferred Provider Benefit:
Patient receives care from a provider that SHS has no affiliation or contractual arrangement. At the non-preferred benefit level, payment to providers is based on the Samaritan Choice Plans fee allowance or the billed amount, whichever is less. The fee allowance is often lower than, or discounted from, the physician’s usual charge. Services at the non-preferred benefit level could result in out-of-pocket expense.
